John Carr Bio
John S. Carr: Guest speaker NATCA’s pre-convention class, “Mock Convention”
NATCA President Emeritus John S. Carr led the Union from 2000-2006. He served as an air traffic controller in the U.S. Navy at Corpus Christi, Texas and on-board the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower, and then worked at FAA air traffic control towers and approach controls at Kansas City International Airport, Chicago TRACON, and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.
Carr was a member of NATCA’s 1998 Contract Negotiating Team, a Facility Representative Training Course Instructor, a facility representative, crew representative, secretary, treasurer, and, finally, President. Throughout his career, Carr has been an outspoken advocate not only for air traffic controllers but for the flying public as well.
Carr currently serves as the Executive Vice President for the Americas Region of the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations. He was elected to that position in 2014. In addition, Carr regularly speaks to NATCA members around the country about legislative activism and NATCA solidarity. He resides in Tampa, Fla., with his wife, NATCA member Jill Carr (Tampa, TPA), and their four children.
